What should I use to seal my painted figs? PDF Print E-mail

There are many suitable products out there on the market suitable for protecting your finished figures. The product of choice for me is Wattyl's Matt Estapol spray. The reason for this is two fold.

    1)   Accessability; I have an hardware store close by that is open until late every night, and it isn't until in the evening that I remember I need the stuff!

    2)    The results; Although other products out there have very good results, I find that Wattyl's Estapol in the spray can is a quick, efficient and clean way of protecting your work. I can protect a whole army on flocked bases in seconds.

Are there any drawbacks? Yes, the one main drawback I have is that the nozzle on the spray packs clag up with gunk really easily. So care must be taken to ensure the jet is cleaned after each application. I even remove the nozzles and keep them in a jar full of thinners/turps. Just remember to give them a good clean and a test use before pointing the can straight at the figs, to ensure the first squirt isn't a paint thinners squirt!

If anyone out there has a suggestion to remedy this that is easier than mine (always looking for the easier option), I'd only be too happy to hear it!

     Happy and prosperous painting everyone!
